All Saints, Speke
1876 - Present Day
All Saints Church was consecrated by the Bishop of Chester on 21st June 1876. By the late 1930s "steps were being taken to adapt the parish church of Speke to its increased responsibilities now that the new township is springing up so rapidly". The church had been enlarged by 1939. A new vestry had been built to allow more accomodation for the congregation, offices had been added and electric lights installed. A new organ replaced the original in use since 1876. The school attached to the parish of All Saints was closed in 1940. |
